Waste Less, Live More

September, or ‘back to school’ time, has rolled around again. It’s a time for fresh starts, an opportunity to do something different. No, not to remember to do your French homework, but to do something you can actually be proud of. To live up to those values you hold dear, and be the change you want to see in the world. Sound daunting? Don’t know where to begin? Even the French homework probably looks appealing at this point …

The thing is, making a positive change in the world needn’t be so stressful. Here at Kin&Co we’ve teamed up with Do Nation to take part in the ‘Waste Less, Live More’ campaign. They’ve made changing your behaviour for the better super easy, with a fun and engaging online platform that asks you to pledge to make little lifestyle changes. Alex, for example, is halving his refined sugar intake – no mean feat for the office ‘feeder’ and doughnut aficionado. Becci has pledged to wash her clothes at 30 degrees, and I have pledged to avoid buying products packed with palm oil. The best thing of all is that whilst these seem like easy peasy little promises, they all add up to make a huge difference cumulatively. Do Nation show you exactly how much CO2 is saved by your pledge, as well as all the other positive environmental and social benefits. When we join together to show commitment to making the world a better place, it sends a really powerful message to the bigwigs at the top. It’s the ultimate ‘people power’ move.

At Kin&Co, we’re big believers in Moving the Needle – from increasing the youth turnout in public votes with We Are Europe, to working with reusable cup company KeepCup to help reduce the huge amount of waste created by disposable coffee cups. So it made perfect sense for us to get involved with ‘Waste Less, Live More’, which ends 25th September. But if you’ve been putting profit above purpose for far too long, it’s not too late to change your ways! Do Nation is open for team pledges all year round. You can visit our page to check out how , or sign up your own organisation to get pledging. The world will thank you. And you might even make it into Father C’s ‘good’ books*.
